I know this is a very long shot, but worth giving a go. I was very close to my dad, though we lived apIart. But whenever I would visit him it was our ritual that he would show me his pigeon lofts and budgie sheds. I remember this from being very young. I loved it... and loved him a lot.
I lost my dad, Len Richardson, more than 5 years ago now. But now I have an aviary (nothing in it yet) I would dearly love to have my dad's blood lines. I'm not sure how I would collect any birds found... I'll work on that if it ever happens.
My dad lived in the Buttershaw, Bradford area and kept, bred and showed his budgies almost all his life! Some possible 40 some years. Sadly I do not know if he had a breeders name or his number...?
Even if I cannot travel to collect the budgies, I would love to be able to find somebody that knew my dad and his passion for his budgies. It would be amazing if somebody knew him and had pictures of him or his birds.
As said... I know this is asking the impossible... But I was a daddy's girl, and still am x

Hi Flight I cannot find any record of your dad as a member of the budgerigar society, give Dave Whittaker a ring on 01604 624549 , mention my name and ask him if he has record of your dad on file.
Option two is give Ronnie Simpson a ring on 0113 252 0976 , Ronnie is from Leeds and has many budgie contacts in your area
Good luck with your search

Good luck with it. If you work those phones, I'm sure you'll find the missing link. It will be amazing to find your dad's budgies.
Is there a local radio station or local paper in that area? If you ring or write in to them, it would make a really sweet local news story, especially if you have any old photos of your dad and his budgies anywhere. You might find some old timers with memories of your dad and budgies that way as well.

I found Cyril H. Rogers (A foyles handbook) Budgerigars book which my mum gave to my dad when they were married... Mum must have given the book to my dad as a gift as it says, 'To my Darling Len, Loving you always , Carol' she put the date on 1971... I was born in 1975. So it is lovely to see this.
In the back cover is my dad's beautiful hand writing where he list some of his budgies that he must have sold; dated 15/1/72. He had wrote the prices... £10.00, £4.00 and £3.00.
This book means the world to me... Inside it's pages where plans of his nest boxes... Brought back so many lovely memories!

I agree it's a beautiful treasure, as well as a breakthrough Wow, these must be special budgies as they were priced at £10.00 over 40 years ago

I have had an amazind break!!!
Thank's to Barrie Shutt for Dave Wittaker's number as now I know my dad's ring number... He wasn't a member of the main fancy as I first thought, but a member of the Yorkshire BS. His number was YR575, last ring's were bought just before he died in 2005... so he had been breeding actively ALL his adult life almost.
I am now trying to get hold of Christian Cooke of the Yorksire BS club and plan on asking if my dad's number has been re-issued... If not, I am going to beg to become a member and try and get his number... Still on the look out for his blood line though.
I am OVER THE MOON and SHOUTING about it. Thank you, thank you!
