Monday morning I woke up to find Minty had died during th night. He was only about 22 months old. He had been fine all day on Sunday, had him out of the cage for about 3 hours. The only thing i can put it down to was the lettuce i gave him sunday afternoon, i think he ate too much of it and it must have had some sort of pestiside on it or something. I noticed as i was covering him up Sunday night he looked quite still and when he pooped it came out like milk, i thought to my self to keep an eye on him for the next few days but he was dead in the morning. My other bird Timmy isn't very happy about it all, he's not used to being on his own much at all. Also it's fallen as me and the girl friend are going on holiday this weekend for a week and Timmy's going to my sisters for the week, but she works full time so he's looking at a long boring week . I've rang the breeder up aand he says he may have some chicks ready in 2 weeks, the colours he has aren't really what we want but i know he only has quality birds so not sure what to do now, what a rubbish week!!!!!

Poor you,and poor Minty; but remember there has to be balance so something good will happen soon. If it had been the lettuce I think Timmy would be unwell too so don't blame yourself there. Get Timmy a little friend as soon as you can as he will be missing some budgie company. There is never a good time for life's downs.

Rest in Peace, dear sweet Minty. They leave us much too soon. Such a handsome fellow. I hope you find a new friend for Timmy when you are ready. Minty will always be in your heart.

Hi Mirianne, no problem, you can move it to the "fields of millet" section.
Thanks for all the comments guys, i will def be getting a new friend for Timmy, it will have to be when i get back from my hols though, cause i wanna tame him and he'll have to go in quarentine for a while any way.
I've arranged to go to the breeders a week on monday, he has some chicks coming up to 6 weeks now, so hopefully they should be ready then and i'll find him a friend.

So sorry to hear about Minty! He was so young and he left you so suddenly it must have been quite a shock. As others have said, the lettuce is unlikely to have harmed him. Sometimes we never know what really happened so don't be hard on yourself. I hope you find a lovely friend for Timmy.
