So!!.., its that time (well in 5 days) when i pack my bags and head of to Greece for a week, although i am excited i am also a bit anxious to leave little Elfie, going to miss him SOOOOOOO MUCH I have written a VERY detailed instruction list for my mum, what not to use in the house from sprays to non Teflon pans etc etc etc, what radio stations to put on through out the day including his sleepy time just before bed station (classical fm) to help send him in to the land of nod,but still it feels weird to leave him...My brother and his wife are staying at my mums at the mo and as Elf will be upstairs in the back bedroom,i have told them ALL that they must go in and talk to him and make him feel special but i know my mum is always so busy so i don't know how much time they will/can spend with him and that worries me ,I'm gone for a week and the thought of him all alone in a new scary house makes me feel sad He will be OK wont he? ?? i know i have asked this before but just need reassuring .......After September i will be getting him a friend so at least the next time he will have a little friend for company x

I'm sure Elfie will be fine. Your VERY detailed instruction list is bound to be a great help. The week will go in no time (good as you will be missing Elfie, but not so good if you are having a fab time in Greece!)
I recall many, many years ago I spent the summer in Italy with family & left my budgie with my aunt. I also left a VERY detailed instruction list. When I arrived at my family (after travelling around a bit) they said there were a couple of letters for me...... my aunt had written to say how my budgie was getting on!

Elfie will be fine I know how you are feeling, I left my lot for just a weekend and fretted about them even though my dad was looking after them for me. But you know what? When I came home they were all perfectly fine and happy, and very glad to see me I am sure that Elfie will be well looked after and you can always bring him a present home

I left my last budgie with people once or twice - I worried before I went that he'd be ok, but then felt quite disgruntled when I got back and found out he'd had lots of fun and a lovely time with his carers... :-) So don't worry as Elfie will be fine, and you should have a lovely welcome home to look forward to!

He will give you a wonderful welcome back and am sure he will be fine - we just get so attached to these little guys I can fully understand how you are feeling! But have a good time in Greece and don't forget to show us your holiday snaps!

Moogie, it all sounds very exciting! I am sure your instructions will be all that Mum needs to make sure Elfie's stay is happy and safe. I am going to have to find a friendly face to help my two out over a long weekend come July, plus the dog too. Sometimes I don't like going away! Which is rather pathetic, really.

Don't worry Moogie, you are in good company! I ALWAYS felt the same with Monts, my OH thought I was bordering on obsessive?! But we all have our own close personal relationship with these little guys, its hard not to miss them when you go away.
So (in my opinion) you are acting perfectly normal! ;D

I took a bookmark with some feathers glued to it when I went away and I stroked them everyday I was away and thought about my babies, but they were fine of course! Have a great time, your mum will take good care of Elfie x

Just be off, enjoy the holiday, and I am sure Mum will be in touch if anything should cause her concern. Leave her the vet's number, just in case. (You have probably already gone now, anyway)
