Hi all,
Please bare with me as I am new to all this. We have had our budgie George 12 months now. He used to fly up and down rooms, talk, and be a generally cheeky bird. For the past several months George seems to be a completely different bird. He is completely bald under both wings. It looks like the feathers are there to grow but it has been like this for months now so we know its not just a moult. George doesnt seem as happy, and cant fly too well. He still talks and bobs up and down, just not half as much as he used to 😒his cage and toys are thoroughly cleaned regulary and We are unable to see any creatures. He is eating and drinkin fine. Possibly sleeping a bit more than usual.
Last week we took him to the vets. They said it was unusual as he was bald under both wings but hard to diagnose anything. They said it could possibly be a behavioural problem or feather mites. They gave him drops to put on the back of his neck every 2 weeks.
2 days after we had been to the vets, George seemed to perk up a little bit. Unfortunaty, yesteday he seemed to worsen. He was sleepin all day, not talkin, dint want to come out his cage or anythin. He seems to be sleeping under his water pot which is unusual. His poo seems slightly runny as well and he looks like he is beginning to get a bald patch on the back of his neck where he tucks his head to sleep. He is also letting you stroke him which he has never really liked. I got him out the cage earlier to see if i could see anything on him but he walked up to my neck and tryed to tuck himself in my curly hair.
We are really worried about him now an are not fully clued up about budgies. Can anybody possibly help? I have looked on the internet etc but cant seem to find anything!
Please help us get our George back to his normal happy self
Cheers
