My website www.op1birds.webs.com I breed in partnership with my father, we breed birds in there original form not show birds.
Coming off a good breeding season with over 80 budgies bred we still have 1 or 2 pairs still down, after gutting the whole shed and extending the shed we were able to breed more birds overall.

I like this bird alot!! He is bred from a Normal Green Cock x Cinn Green Hen (this years outcross)
Now i know the cock isnt carrying any reccessive pied gene so the hen must have it in her genes because the breeder i go to breeds mainly reccessive pieds these days.

This bird i have a huge soft spot for, Normal Grey Green, i didnt used to like this colour but i certainly do now!
He is bred from a Light Green Spangle Cock x Normal Blue Hen The cock father comes from a very good birdshed in Port Talbot, good strong healthy birds.
This pair only went 1 round i wish i didnt split the pair up, they produced very good chicks the feather on the birds was strange i put it down to the spangle.

Today we have talk about stopping breeding the budgies for the winter untill march 2012, So this will be the budgies last round, 4 pairs still breeding 2 with chicks 2 with eggs.
This leaves us with 112 Budgies to keep over the winter and around february we will sell on the surplus stock and buy in another 2-3 outcrosses.
The aim next year is to breed more lutinos, albinos and whitewings. We already have 20 albinos that are split into 2 familys. We have bred no visual lutinos this year only splits from our very best visual lutino hen.
Over the winter we will instead concentrate our efforts on breeding our Cockatiels, Zebs and Bengalese. We already have 9 cockatiels, 25 finches and 20 javas.
We were lucky enough today to visit our regular petshop to find a large amount of zebras for sale must of been about 60 there in total all mutations you could think of, we were lucky enough to pick up a CFW Cock and a Silver hen you dont normally find silvers in pet shops around my area at all!!
Our cockatiels have really really shocked us this winter my father always told me cockatiels breed better in the winter and boy they definatly do, we have a 29 year old grey cockatiel cock in our shed my father bred him 29 years ago and bred from him successfully but suddenly now he has bonded and mated with a young grey hen and time will tell if she lays fertile eggs, we are shocked to say the least!!

Now i know the cock isnt carrying any reccessive pied gene so the hen must have it in her genes because the breeder i go to breeds mainly reccessive pieds these days. To get a recessive pied chick both parents must carry the gene. The gene could have been in the cock's family for many generations and not shown up until now Your web-site is looking good
