Hi everyone As u all know I have not had Winnie very long but want to start of taming I have read loads post on here an all make sense My question is that... She is fine when I am near her home no crazy flying around just looks I have tried to put treats millet etc on the top of her cage she does not touch or bothered by it also threw the bars not bothered I have stop there for ages. When I am cleaning her home out she does fly around but not crazy more to avoid newspaper that kinda thing I have put my hand in without moving it and does not seemed bothered also offered food again no interest her home is big so she always moves perch and pays no attention As a summary is neither scared or bothered about me being there or what I have to offer. She gets on an off her stick to get put of the cage fine

i would now try getting her out for a fly..... do this at night the first time..... because if you have trouble getting her back in its easy to get over ...get some one to turn out the light.... and she will not fly.... pick her up and place her back in the cage ......or do it in the day........ when you have all day to let her go in on her own ....make sure no other pets are in the room ...and windows are closed ......and have coverings nets..... or any thing..... so she dont think she can fly through them ...and just look around and see if theres anything she can fall behind .....or hert her self on .....be prepared she will crash ...they all do in the beginning...its part of learning ...have her fave treat handy .....but start by getting her on your hand slowly take her out of the cage...... this may take some attempts ...dont rush or force her ....when shes out sit down talk to her and let her decide when to fly off ...... i hope this helps.....

We let her out to fly all the time the problem is if she wants to avoid us she can I don't wanna put my hand in and scare her by getting her out se has master the flying around I can put back on the stick of I have to put her in cause I say stick she flys or climbs On. I have been trying to build the trust by doing everything on the dif ppls threads but she seems very bothered or scared to be honest have tried to put my hand in she just moves to he other side an it's like I am chasing her

Have you tried millet training her? It involves having a piece of millet spray on the palm of your hand then you put your hand inside the cage. The idea is to get her to associate your hand with good yummy things I noticed you said you have been trying to follow all the different taming threads, sounds like you are trying a bunch of different things at once, its best to stick to one thing Its all about building up the trust between you and Winnie. Lots of talking to her, singing if you want and blinking at her, it all takes time and patience but is very rewarding when you get there

Hi Lizb. The first thing you need to do is to find out what Winnie considers a treat food. Its obviously not millet & find a Bonding Post that you find easy to follow....B.J.

Why not have a look at some other members thread on who they are taming and bonding with their budgies, I think there are a few around It should give you a good idea of what works and what doesn't.

I have tried dif foods veg from day one but she never eats it she only eats her seed lol Keep going with the veg, it takes budgies a while to realise what is good for them. Try serving it in different ways such as grated, threaded onto a skewer or even just pieces wedged between the bars of the cage. Also why not try eating a carrot stick in front of her then putting a bit in her cage (different piece of course lol) Budgies tend to learn off others, its all like budgie see, budgie do It will take time but really will be worth it when you see her tucking in ;D

Hello Have you tried, cake, peanut butter, honey on toast
cottage cheese. A treat considered fattening will be ok
if given in treat like portions ie just big enough not to
fall through the bars when you put it on the cage roof.
Use smaller portions when your holding it...B.J.

As she only seems to like her seed, have you tried putting some of that in the palm of your hand? X

Hello Sorry forgot to mention. You posted, "I stopped there for ages." Unfortunately ages isn't long enough when it comes to birds. You don't have to stare at her all the time. Read or watch TV. It's your presence that she has to get used to, Offer the treat every half hour or so. It could be days before she takes it.. Don't give her any treat foods except from your hand...B.J.
