Here's something that my granddad and I knocked up this morning: So far, Munchy has landed on the base once or twice because he wants to play with the weeble budgie that's there, but he's not brave enough to stay for more than a few seconds. He stayed on the apple branch for longer but he can't just climb straight down so he gave up in the end. Really I think it needed a few more branches but it would have been hard to move around and I think my nan might have flipped. Sadly I couldn't just find a section of tree with a nice spread of branches in all directions and more drilling might have been difficult. The thin twigs are for hanging things on, but I don't think they can take anything too heavy, and I can't really move the ropes around because I'm liable to break the wood they're attached too. Even so, here's hoping that he has fun with it once he's started to trust it. It's currently on the cage stand. The cage normally goes on there when we bring it into the living room but he rarely flies over to it and he seemed to enjoy hopping on an off of it when it was on the floor the other morning (because he was only coming out for about half and hour before we had to go out) so it can either stay in the other room so he can fly around the house or it can come in and be on the stand or on the floor. Plenty of choices to keep him guessing ^^

Thank you, Rachael Yes. I was worried that there weren't enough branches for him to get up and down, but he can get right to the top from the lowest branch with a bit of clever climbing. He's on there now, ringing some bells and buttons. I think it would be better with thin hooks that could screw into the wood but they're either brass or steel coated with zinc >< It's really hard to find any stainless steels screws and things. I'll just have to be very gentle with the twigs, but he might not XD

Well done you and grandad. I am sure Munchy will be all over it soon. It's great he feels brave enough to try it out.

Thanks everyone! He loves it, in between pulling sequins off of the curtains I pray everyday that he doesn't swallow one, but I'm sure that'll be what causes his death when he inevitably leaves us, hopefully not for a very long time, though. But yes, he adores the tree. I didn't think he'd use the angled perches much but he walks up and down the steep inclines as if they were flat. I must remember not to underestimate those feet of his ^^
