Does anybody have experience of using this supplement for their budgies please? I ask because you may already know that Bubbles has recently been ill though fortunately well at present. When I spoke to the vet during her treatment he said she was a bit thin though not desperately so. I asked him what he recommended I do to build her up after her treatment finished and he said these BSP drops to go in the water. Any comments, advice or experience would be gratefully appreciated before I take the plunge. Thanks in advance to you all!

I've looked online because it doesn't seem available in shops. Its by vetark. I was hoping others knew plenty about it because I want to know exactly what I'm giving my little guys.

Good idea BB. I think my vet is great and though I have no reason to dispute his suggestion it's good to know as much as possible I think...

I don't know this product, but here are my thoughts, for what they are worth.
It's a broad vitamin supplement, without sugar in it, by the looks. I guess the vet is thinking Bubbles might need supplementation while she's recuperating from her illness, in case she's not getting enough from her daily normal food. Especially given that she is underweight.
Here are the contents:
Nutritional additives Vitamins A (retinyl acetate) - 6,000,000 IU, C-10,000mg, E-8,000IU D3-1,000,000IU, B1-2000mg, B2 - 4000mg, B6 -1,000mg, biotin 25mg, folic acid 400mg, nicotinic acid 20,000mg and pantothenic acid 12,500mg

Thats kind of what I thought. I give them all plenty of veggies already. I was hoping it would be like a complan type thing for budgies to help her put on a gram or two. If they have veg and I give them this will they get too many vitamins, or doesn't it matter? I think my vet is brilliant but I'm not a girl who takes things willynilly such as meds etc and I don't give things to my kids if I can help it either. You never know the long term effects so I like the natural way where possible, and I have given my birds real vits rather than artificial supplements up til now too.... I would feel much happier if someone could sing its praises before I use it really!!

Sorry, Sarah, can't help you there. But I am sure if you feel comfortable with this vet and this is who has seen Bubbles through her illness, I would be giving her the boost the vet has recommended. I usually give my birds a vit supplement for a week out of every month, which I hate doing, but even with their veggies and everything else they get, I still see how they could be low on essential vit that would be naturally available if they weren't caged. I hadn't been doing it since Blue died. I stopped all the extras, but maybe for too long. I don't feel Bubbles will be over-dosed with this and veggies at the same time. Remember most vits are siphoned off if not needed - the body only keeps what it needs and I imagine birds would be the same. Smudge had two multi vit injections, and I do consider she has more energy than before. Plus the sunshine they are being (forced) to endure, seems to have given them both a lift. But if you are really unsure, ask the vet. Why this BSP rather than a probiotic?

Yeah I probably should ask, but I feel I should have done so earlier now. Being stressed about my little girl I just didn't question it or ask much. Now it would be cheeky to phone him I think!! I probably will just have faith and go with it, I'm sure you're right. I can find a reason to worry about anything!!

Oh, yeah, me too! Sometimes we just go blank don't we? Hope Bubbles is still picking up nicely.

She is fine, it's more likely to be my obsessively worrying and checking on her several times an hour that's bothering her most at the moment!!
