Its probably when the heating goes off at night and also when the temperature outside drops. I have it when i use my heat lamp on my babies i find temperature drops at night and i have to turn the lamp up more, then by morning the temperature has risen again.maybe if it was thermastatically controlled it would stay constant? What do you think? Sue

Or am i looking at it wrong. Thats why i havent bought one as this is what puts me off.apart from they are expensive as well. sue

There would be small change in temp, Sue, but the thermostat should kick the heat in before it gets too low. A bit like central heating in your own house.

It seems the thing to have if you intend breeding, Sue. Seeing as it is so crucial for the chicks to be kept at a constant warm temp. I know you have bred your birds, Sue, and done a mighty fine job of hand rearing a number of chicks as I recall. What did you use then?

I used just a heat bulb on a variable switch and plenty of hours keep checking the temperature was right ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) i think i was lucky so far, as i had the rearing tank in a place where the temperature didnt fluctuate much. the thermostat is on its way now.i ordered it yesterday.
