Hi everyone, unbelievably I'm already posting on this thread... My lovely lovely little Sonic has died. I only got Sonic and Sparky on 20th June as babies and Sonic has already been called on somewhere better. To make it worse, I am worried about Sparky's health too. It seems they were just not strong birds or something I suppose. I'm so so sad, it doesn't seem fair to lose one so young. On wednesday morning he flew down to the floor of the cage and closed his eyes, so I put him in a cage by himself after giving him a little stroke and 2 hours later he looked at me, twitched slightly and that was it, he was gone. I still can't believe it, it has taken me this long to feel up to posting. My only consolation is that on tuesday he was out playing and flying as usual and he didn't show any signs of pain or distress but it is such a small consolation, I just wish he was still here.

So terribly sorry for your loss, Sarah. RIP dear little Sonic. His life may have been short but he certainly brightened up the world while he was here. You and your boys will miss him, the other budgies too, I guess.

Rest in Peace, sweet little Sonic. They leave us much too soon. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. Hugs to you, Sarah.

Thanks guys, I'm getting on with all the day to day stuff but everytime I think of him I just cry again, I'm not someone who moves on easily from pain or problems, never have been (just not made that way!) I don't think I'll ever forget watching him as he passed, it was horrible but on the other hand it was good to see how easy it was for him, I have to remember that. It's only that 4 months isn't enough, that is too hard to deal with. Your kind comments really help. Telling my 6 year old was the worst thing- we spoke about how some of the birds God creates are just so special that they have to go and live in heaven with him instead of staying here with us. Very tough.

I'm so sorry to hear about little Sonic, it's so sad he had such a short time with you. You did a great job explaining his loss to your 6 year old, that is a perfect explanation for a child! I do hope Sparky will be well and spend many happy years with you. Take care..

Oh no, Sarah I am so very very sorry about losing little Sonic.
He knew you loved him, and no matter how hard it was for you to witness, he will have taken comfort from you being there at the end, I know he will have.
Rest in peace little guy, fly high xxx
