Didn't expect to be on here again so soon. We lost Pippin yesterday. I think he just wasn't settling in, he seemed to be bombing round the cage all day at any given opportunity and in truth I think he wore himself out. I did contact the breeder about it before he passed voicing my concerns and asking for his advice but despite us doing everything we could for him it was to no avail. At the moment I feel like I have failed

I am very sorry to know this. You have not failed. It's just nature and everyone has his time. Rest in peace little one.

I'm so sorry Sam. Whatever it was I am sure you couldn't have done anything, he would have already been ill when you got him. He had a short time with you but you gave him the best care.
You have not failed.
I have lost 4 birds and I know that the pain is immense. But you can focus on the remaining birds, making sure they are happy.
You are a good, loving and responsible bird owner and you know it. x

Than you BB, Stace and Marianne I don't think there will ever be a time where you think you did everything you could. It is such a shock and unexpected However, the breeder has been very supportive which is good we might get another 1 or 2 from him once they are available. @marianne Thank you for having faith in me my confidence has been slightly knocked but am sure it will pick up again soon x

Sorry you had to leave so soon Pippin. Sam, you showed him love and there wouldn't have been anything you could do more than you have to care for your little birds. Don't lose heart, you are very caring and they are lucky to have you as their mummy

Oh, Sam, sweetie, you didn't have him long enough to have failed him! I feel so terribly your very new loss. This is just sooooo not fair! It is always the biggest characters, the ones who find your heart even before you realise. It may be that he was that odd personality that needed an aviary to survive. You weren't to know, and you could not have helped him more.
All positive thoughts and vibes going your way for the good health of your other two. Chin up, my friend, you are good at this!

I was so shocked when I saw this thread. I am so sorry Sam, I know how happy you were to get them. I know that Pippin will always be in your heart, no matter how short a time he had with you. Rest in peace little Pippin.

Goodness how awful! I lost one when I'd only had him about 4 months and was told he had cancer (a big growth 'underneath') which he probably had either from birth or when I bought him! I think when my two go (not for a long time yet I hope but we never know!) I will get only babies with their head bands still on! (ok I know thats not the correct terminology but....it's horrible for you I'm so sorry but glad the breeder has been sympathetic. ['] little pippin

I just know you did everthing you could for Pippin Sam, so don't blame yourself. Monty will look after Pippin now.
