Can the jockey make it any harder for Bauer to win the race! Watch the small grey in mainly white colours. What on earth is he doing way out back there? Oh yes this jockey can make it worse!.... in his next race www.horseraceaustralia.com/2011/10/16/geelong-cup-2011/What the heck is he doing bringing him into the rail when theres 10 horses to get through?! Bauer is now 'qualified' to run in the Melbourne Cup in one aspect, but having been give horrendous rides in the last 2 races he is not guaranteed a place to run as he needed to win one of these races to guarantee a run in the big one. The speed that he finishes in both these races proves he is a worthy runner in the Melbourne cup . He was more than capable of trotting up in either race. Unfortunately he is now 42nd in the field so he needs 19 horses to pull out before the big day for him to get a run. On the way he has been robbed of these qualifying races it would be a crime not to let him run in the big one. If enough horses withdraw we will pray for no rain and also a different jockey choice! Somebody needs to give me a big tranquiliser until the final field for the Melbourne Cup is called. I can't bear it any longer! And if he does get a run PLEASE book a different jockey govenor!

I hadn't watched the whole thing before Nat, but can so understand why you are frustrated! What a doer! You could almost wish that the Geelong Cup race was a few furlongs longer, as I am sure he would have caught the winner!

That's why they pay those gun jockeys the big bucks, I guess.

Just heard on the news in Australia that Bauer needs six horses to drop out to get a start in the Melbourne Cup.

Latest news....... I have heard that both Sahara Sun and Linton don't run now. Tullamore and The Verminator now get in the ballot, but one might be knocked out of their place by the winner of the Lexus Stakes who will be exempt from the ballot. Bauer is in 27th or 28th position. Needs to be 24th to get a run. We'll know by tomorrow evening (Australian time)

Good luck, Bauer. I would love to see him run it. Everyone watches "the Cup", they don't call it "the race that stops the Nation" for nothing. I'll keep my ear to the ground tonight and see if I can't pick up any news.

Unfortunately it looks as though Bauer will not run the Melbourne Cup. The trainer still has two horses in the final 24 places but seems to have always put Bauer as his best to win the Cup. What a shame is all I can say! The race he was "allowed to run in the Geelong Cup was a blinder! So impressed Nat! At nine years old, he really is a doer!

A real pity Hezz I believe he missed it by one position. Bauer won the Geelong cup 3 years ago which gave him a guaranteed start in the Melbourne cup for that year. He was beat by an inch in the Melbourne. Melbourne cup 2008
