I've messaged you Jason, I have a budgie looking for a home. We found him lost and took him in, we've advertised for his owners buy have had no luck.
We can't keep him as we have a cat.
We're in Wanstead, East London.

just to update everyone, thanks to Lou I now have a lovely budgie who spends a lot of time singing along to the radio. Not sure how old he is but I am trying to tame him and teach him to talk - time will tell. He's a lovely yellow colour with patches of green - I've called him custard ! Thanks again Lou and thanks to others in this forum for trying to help me out

Here is Custard, gazing out the window - bless him ! I do not know how old he is, he is proving difficult to tame and gets very nervous when I place anything in his cage. He likes to fly around the lounge and perch on the window handle or on top of the book case surveying the room. He uses a cuttlefish as one of his perches - still hasn't worked out that he could use to keep his beak trim. He has shown no interest in apple, pineapple, mango, broccoli, cress nor brussell sprout leaves. He loves his Trill but I want to vary his diet. He sings a lot in the morning when his cage is uncovered and responds well to the radio (Jazz FM). Attachments:

hello Custard.... It might take a little time for Custard to get used to you. Sometimes they can take a while. Patience and persistence is what is required.
He looks pretty happy though.

He's lovely Jason. Plenty of patience is your answer but once he gets used to his surroundings he will be more trusting. Good luck. Sue

Bless him!! It's so nice to see him looking so happy. So glad you're getting along OK with him
We do miss him, but I think the cat misses him more!
Keep the updates coming and thanks for giving him a good home.

Custard enjoys a lot of freedom flying around the lounge and kitchen perching on the window gazing out at the trees outside. I am home most of the day as I work part-time in the evenings. He is now enjoying Millet but doesn't seem to know what grit is for and doesn't go near his budgie bath.
Recently, I put the shower on a cool setting and on a fine mist spray and he enjoyed some "pretend" rain as I was concerned he wasn't washing (in his bath). He seemed to enjoy that.
He loves sitting on top of the book case preening - so I have a small pot of seed up there so he can have a snack. He hates it when it is time to go back into his cage. It takes me a good ten minutes to catch him.
I am wondering if he might like a mate - male or female - but i am concerned that introducing another bird to his cage might lead to territorial disputes....any thoughts ? ? ?

Sounds like Custard is really enjoying his time in the house If you don't feed him outside the cage, he will fly to his cage for food every time he feels hungry. Hence, you will not have to catch him in the evenings and can close the cage door when he is in for evening food.
