Here's a picture from a couple of weeks ago. When I woke up this morning, she looked great and I was going to take a photo after I gave her some medicine. I wasn't able to catch her properly though, and I didn't get to give her any medicine. Now I'm sad because the stress of grabbing her out of the cage twice a day will probably kill her. She looks upset now, so I think I'll wait for her to relax again before I take her picture. The veterinarian was definitely an avian vet. We had to drive a little further than we would've liked, but my bird didn't seem to mind the car ride at all. The vet said we could try to put the medicine on some bread if Misty wouldn't come out of the cage. Is this something you would try? She loves to eat, so I thought maybe that would be a good idea if the medicine would still be effective. I'm not in denial, but I think I'll look into the treatments you guys suggested, just in case. I'm not ready to give up on Misty yet because she hasn't slowed down at all. Attachments:

I would say definitely female. (I didn't see the rest of the thread before posting this! Doh!) Edited to add - I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you find some solution. As for the treatment and stress, that's a tricky one.

I'm glad that you think she's a girl too. It's good to have more than one person's opinion.
Thanks. Yesterday I was really upset, but today I feel a little better. She's still here, she's still active and doing the things she likes to do, so I guess that's all I can ask for. Hopefully she'll get used to being treated.

Just a quick update: We've talked with some pet store employees, and apparently they aren't allowed to carry most bird medicines anymore. I've ordered Vetafarm SCATT from online today, but it won't get here until next week. I hope Misty will be okay until then. She looked good today, so hopefully she can hang on until we get the medicine. (>_<)

So sorry you and Misty are going to have to wait, regarding the scatt. You don't know anyone with an aviary? They would be sure to have some on hand........
It is terrible being given that diagnosis, but I feel you are doing the right thing in looking for alternatives, and giving Misty the best chance possible. All fingers and feathers crossed, Katie.

Thanks, everyone. Sadly I don't know anyone who keeps pet birds. The SCATT probably won't get here for awhile because of all the mail being sent at this time of year, but I hope we don't have to wait too long.
