Hank passed away last night. I was sleeping at the time, but my boyfriend noticed him flapping around and talked to him gently until he passed away. I am devastated. He was in a hospital cage away from the other birds because he seemed to be 'going light' exactly like Sheldon. We gave him plenty of millet and seed and some low perches - no veggies as per instructions. He was getting sodium benzoate as per Barries instructions. I just don't know what else we could have done. It's especially upsetting as he seemed to really improve in the week or two we were giving him the medicine.

Thank you. We really did everything we could this time. I just wish I knew the source of all this. Hank and Sheldon (along with Penny, who is a pet type budgie so completely unrelated) came from a woman who lives near me. She sold them over facebook. When I asked her where she got them, she told me someone else on facebook, so I'm guessing after the breeder (who I found out is Nigelsstud!) the two of them had at least three homes, if not more. Now I'm wondering, because these two birds which came from the same place have died whether they picked up megabacteria (it really seemed like that's what sheldon had) and it just took a while to come into effect, or whether one of the other birds has it but has had no symptoms (yet) and given it to them. The fact that they died first though in quick succession leads me to believe that they had it longer. So confusing.

Rest in Peace, dear sweet Hank. He and Sheldon are together again, talking about the good times they had with you and your boyfriend. I am so sorry for your loss. They leave us much too soon.

I agree Mick - this person no longer owns budgies - I homed all the ones she didn't want. I have no idea where they were for the home before that, though. She says she can't remember who she got them from. ¬___¬
