Went down the shed this morning and Beauty has poo stuck to her vent again so I have brought her back in , Should I give her some more wormer? When I give her her last dose of 2 small drops I wasnt sure she took it properly as I was so worried of overdosing her, but could she have worms coming back again?
It seems she`s not meant to be down the aviary with the others I havent brought Bobby back in with her he`s happy flying around down there . Whats the best to do should I worm her again ?

I cleaned his bottom twice with a moist rag (which stopped his trying to use his foot continuously to remove it), then I found a source of probiotics for animals and it cleared up his problem right away. I give it to all of them every once in a while just to make sure. This isn't the brand I used, but this is what an internet search came up with: www.avianweb.com/avicultureprobiotics.htmlMaybe you could find a source in S. Wales or closer than the States (although i have ordered items from Britain for my birds ) EDIT: Ahhhh........at the bottom of that page, there is a source close to you.

Thanks for replying Eve . Beauty was ill a few weeks ago and I nearly lost her and it was down to worms and it started with her having runny poo and it sticking to her vent , Which makes me concerned that it could be the reason she has it again . I do have some probiotic here and I will put some in her food for her again. also I have put Gaurdian Angel in her water. She seems fine but I dont want her getting ill like before . Hope she`s not going to be like this every few weeks

I even gave it to my cats which helped their ailments and a stray that came around and wasn't eating...........she improved. Good luck. I'm sending my love to your baby.

Hi. I would also look at his diet. Your so called English budgies have longer feathers than pet birds. Breeders usually have to trim the vent feathers a little to aid mating. This may may help with your problem....B.J.

This may may help with your problem....B.J. Don't know if you are addressing my post, but he had copious amounts diarrhea which stuck to his bottom. I cleaned it and then a few weeks later........the same problem. Then he started having the opposite problem, then he began switching between the two (I won't be graphic). He was a rehomed budgie and I'm not sure what his history was before I got him. The pro-biotics helped and he hasn't had a problem since........almost a year. His diet is the same as the other six in his flock. They've had no problems.

Hi Julie. With the infestation that Beauty had previously, it is quite possible that all the worms haven't been eradicated. Since you have already wormed her again, and providing her with probiotics and GA, I wouldn't be giving her anything else for a while. For the future, I am thinking garlic is a parasite deterrent, and maybe trying her with ACV. But would be after letting the probiotics work their magic. I can't recall whether you had her on probiotics after she had her multiple worming doses or not. Fingers and feathers all crossed that Beauty makes a total recover with no relapses this time.

Hi julie... Diet.... Budgies like every other creature have food tolerance problems. Dark green veg for instance is known to cause diarrhoea in some cases. It's just another avenue that may need investigation. Trimming vent feathers ...Not knowing if Beauty is a double buff. Like the show type or if she's a pet Bush Budgie type bird. Either way. for the comfort & personal hygiene of the bird this may help. ...B.J.

I don't think more ivermectin would be of any help. Just keep her warm and the probiotics/GA up to her and seeds only for the time being. BJ has brought up a good point: maybe keep her isolated for some time and introduce fruit and veggies to her one at a time over a few days and see how she reacts to each individual food. There may be something that she just isn't tolerating. Include in this anything else you may provide - grass, branches, other soft foods etc. Otherwise I am not sure what to suggest.

[/b I did read somewhere on this forum or it might have been somewhere else on line of a budgie keeper who had this problem of poop sticking to vent........He or she added Garlic Powder to soft food and that cleared it up........never occured again.

Thanks for that James. Unfortunately Beauty has previously been very severely infested with large (for a little bird) worms, so the poo sticking point is a minor issue at the moment. We need the little girl to get back to being her healthy happy and beautiful self. Here's hoping Beauty is not one to turn her beak up at garlic (unlike my own! ).

Ì gave her some baytril last night and again this morning and I rang the vet to tell him about her and if I could have some more baytril , I called in to pick it up and he said she could still have abit of infection or if its green poo could be liver disease , but she had had spinich the day before :-/I have to give her the baytril in her water because its less stressful for her.. she is much better today and is sitting chirping away and been eating some millet . He said to give her 0.1 ml in 200ml of water but he also said he didnt know how many mils the water fountain held , well its 100mls so I have given her half of the 0.1 but it seemed hardly anything in that volume of water
