Not sure if we need that currently Owain. It would take an awful lot of moderating!

i personnally think a forum should 90% of the time run itself ,mods should only intervene on abusive, argumentative,or bad language posts ,there is always a bit of banter and this is how it should be regards gerwynmr2

I think a new thread should not be checked and approved by staff, as they can edit, move or delete any thread anytime.

Woow just had a shock the forum i mentioned the mods and admin also have to approve posts before they get posted, taking things abit to far but it keeps the forum free from crap.

I can see how it would keep the forum spam free but I think that it would feel a bit weird on this forum. Its all about freedom of speech and also there wouldn't be enough staff and mods around to keep up with approving them. Members sometimes need a quick answer to a question and if they knew they wouldn't get that here then they would go elsewhere. What works for one forum won't always work for another

What works for one forum won't always work for another I didnt post it for this forum to do the same, just found it interesting and good at the same time! its a huge forum though nearly 4000 members so maybe its needed there who knows. Freedom of speech? sometimes saying what you want doesnt always do you good.

A lot of forums use that function for new members and usually it's up to so many posts so they can tell if it's a troll or a very colorful speaker. I would hate to be a mod at one of those sites though, having to proof read all those posts. Also a lot of people tend to come to these kind of sites for the first time when their bird is sick and waiting for an emergency question to be approved would probably add unneeded stress to the member.
Personally I hate those kind of forums that think we need baby sitters, the net was supposed to be a freeing experience for people and recently I can't have conversations that I would have with my friends because some soft skinned freak decides that for example, adults will never have a legitimate reason so say penis.

It is one way of preventing spammers abusing the forum and can be moderated without any problems.
