Thanks Hezz - I'll give it a go tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they make of it... a huge sprig.

Thanks Hezz - I'll give it a go tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing what they make of it... a huge sprig. I chickened out of putting a whole great clump of rosemary in for them and settled for two long sprigs. As usual the three blue cock birds dived in for a nibble followed later by the hens. An hour later there was nothing left but the end of a small bare twig. They loved nibbling and playing with it. I'm not sure about nutrient value but for amusement alone I'll do the same in a few days time.

I haven’t given mine blueberries but it occurred to me that it might be fun to thread a few on a piece of budgie-safe string (I would use rafia) and make it a food toy.

I tried to feed my guys blueberry. Buddy is usually brave enough to try new things. When I held a blueberry up to him, he went flying. Guess he didn't recognize it as food!

Please realise that this thread is over seven years old. Also while budgies are parakeets, not all parakeets are budgies. Wikipedia: A parakeet is any one of many small to medium-sized species of parrot, in multiple genera, that generally have long tail feathers.
