Hi Rickie. There are two things you can try to ease your budgie's eye. The first is a cool wet black tea bag, used like a compress. This will remove (hopefully) some of the crustiness as well as the healing properties the tea bag has. Make sure it is a plain black tea bag, not black tea blended with some of the extras. Also chamomile tea/bags are good too. Again make sure it is pure chamomile, not a blend. The other thing to try to get hold of is called "Golden Eye ointment". It is a human eye treatment and can be found in pharmacies/chemists/drug stores - whatever you call them. If using the tea/bags, you can make up the tea as you would drink it and them dilute it by half again - add the same amount of cool water as you have tea. You can then either use a cotton bud or cotton balls and soak this in the tea and bathe the eye in this manner. I hope this makes sense, I feel I haven't explained it very well. Good luck with your budgie, hope the eye gets better.

Hello,
Thank you so much for your time. This is very worrying for me.
Yesterday I noticed yellow crust around the eye corners of my budgie for both eyes just like the one yours had. He's around one year old, otherwise healthy and playful. I'm worried that this might be mites or a fungal infection which may lead to infection of the lungs and brain, etc.
Could you please share with me whether you discovered what that is and what happens next?
Thank you so much truly!

Thank you so much truly! This thread is over eight years old, the the poster never came back to update. I suggest you start a new thread and add some photos of your bird’s eye so that we can help.
