Rest in Peace, dear sweet Molly. Keep her cute face and happy song close to your heart, and she will be with you foreverr. It is nice to know that she will live on through her sons and daughter. I am so sorry for your loss, Nat.

I've been following these threads closely as I'm still trying to deal with my own guilt about putting Fluffy down recently. She had a tumour that was balding near her vent, but still looked quite alert. You never quite know what's the right thing to do, as they don't show pain easily.
Nat and Marianne, I'm sorry to hear about your losses. This is the obvious downside of our friendship with our feathered companions, who give us so much pleasure. Bless them.

You probably did do the right thing, Marleen. In hindsight, I kind of wish I had done this for Bluey. He picked up and rallied so many times, I really didn't know what was right, but now I think his last few days couldn't have been good.

Fluffy was a hen that brought up very large clutches of babies, up to 9 chicks at a time, and appeared to cope really well with them. She was a born mother, although her own mother had pecked her severely (her siblings did not survive; mum went back to the shop!) and her own feathers were sticking in strange directions, hence her name. She did not look like much, but she was the best bird ever! She now rests in peace.

I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you, Marleen. My bird had the exact same thing. We decided not to put her down because she was still really active, but she died shortly after anyway. You should find solace in knowing that you spared Fluffy any suffering. Rest in peace Fluffy. xx

I'm really sorry about Molly, Nat. It sounds like she had a good run though. If she was still enjoying life up until the end, then that's all that matters. I'm sure you took good very good care of her.
Rest in peace Molly. You'll be missed. xx
