I gave Smudge's face a cotton-ball wash once (she is a grubby thing) and some of her cere flaked off with the gentle wiping. I hope it is a simple as this with your hen.

Is it just a hen bird's sloughing her cere then barrieshutt? it is possible Sam as her feathers above the cere are showing that problem , a good case to apply ivermectin 0.1% as a precaution against mites and also a possible vitamin A deficiency
