Hi everyone
For those of you that don't know, my Lola has been ill for over a week now. She was sick the thursday before last and was really fluffed up so I panicked thinking she was ill like last time (she had an infection last year and was so ill even the vet thought that she wouldn't make it but she is a little fighter)
So I set up a hospital cage and put her in it and started giving her baytril in her water which she had for ten days. She hasn't been sick since but my main concern is her breathing, its quite squeaky and harsh so I thought it could be air sac mites. I also spoke to Barrie and he said it could be mites or an iodine deficiency. I have done a little research and the symptoms sound very similar so I'm unsure which it it. Her breathing is as I said plus she keeps doing a violent gagging/ choking motion Plus her poop is on the watery side but her vent does seem to be clogged up, just a little messy. She is going to be given a bath in the morning though to clean that up.
Anyway, I am treating her with Ivermectin 0.1% and she is due her second dose tomorrow, all my other budgies will be getting treated too to be safe. I have also ordered Iodine to put in her water, 3% which Barrie said to get but I have no idea how much to put in the water or if it is safe to give her at the same time as she is being treated with Ivermectin. So does anyone know if it is? Also how much and in your opinion does it sound like mites or the iodine deficiency?
