Can you tell me if this young bird is a cock or hen please? Photo was taken in natural daylight with no flash.

That's great! I was told the white around the nostrils indicates a hen in an albino bird, hence the confusion.

In the pic I can see a little white around the nostrils, but not a solid ring of white. The other part of the cere looks to be mauve colour which makes him look like a cock :-)I reckon if he was a hen then the outside of the cere would be less mauve, but a paler colour. I think the albinos and lutinos can be quite difficult to sex when they are young :-)

It is always tricky to sex such birds. With just one picture, I am not sure about this one

I thought that based on statistics, the bird is more likely to be female. Albino males are relatively uncommon.

I thought that based on statistics, the bird is more likely to be female. Albino males are relatively uncommon. That's somewhat right At least I have seen more Ino females than males. Every time I look at this picture, I think more of female. A few more pictures would help.

It's pretty obvious from the photo above that sexing young ino's is not easy. There really is very litle difference at all! New photos taken today in natural light with no flash.
