I've been jealously eyeing up Moogie's little platform perch for ages and finally got around to making one. It's so cute and Buddy likes it, which is the main thing. I've had some stainless perch attachments hanging around for ages, so it was good to put one to use. I'd wondered what the nut was for, but it's useful for getting the bolt to thread into the wood with a spanner so it's a nice, tight fit. I hadn't used the nut on the other perches I've made. Made things a lot easier. lousette, I think these are the perch attachments you'll be getting from the US. Very pleased I managed to make it without splitting the wood. It looks big in this photo but it's only around 2 or so inches across. I really need a girl shed.

Oooh Stace, that is FABULOUS! Yes, these are the ones. Hubby has been told that there will be a LOT of carpentry and bird toy/stand making to be done when he gets back with my bolts. That looks like a great piece of wood too. A girl shed is definitely in order methinks, you have done yourself proud there

Nice one :-) That bark looks nice and chewy :-) What type of wood it it? It's thick willow. The bark part is quite soft and chewy, but it's hard on the inside.

Here he is, loving his new pedestal. He likes to spout forth his budgie oratory from here. "The world according to Boo." [/a]
