Thanks for that info Starlingqueen and Hezz (agree with you there!!). I have managed to get an appointment with an Avian vet for late this afternoon (about 20 miles away from where I live) and will tell him/her what you have said Starlingqueen and I will be asking loads of questions too. I will let you all know what the outcome is.

Hope the vet can help get Oscar better quick smart.
I looked up some bumblefoot stuff from my vet. As well as hard perches, incorrect shaped perches, sandpaper, and getting fibres wrapped around their feet - he says obesity (!), flightless birds and Vit deficiencies (esp Vit A) can contribute to bumble foot. He suggests a penicillin based antibiotic, regular foot washes to draw out the pus and toxins etc, wrapping perches in soft wraps (Vetwrap) as you've been doing.

Thanks everyone, but I am really sorry to have to tell you that my dear lovely Oscar passed away this morning. If only I had found the avian vet sooner, would he still be here? The vet I took him to obviously didn't know as much as she thought she did. He went very quickly within the hour.I now know how you all feel, those of you who have lost their budgies - could I have done more, did I do something wrong? I am blaming myself. He was such a sweetie and did not fuss all rhe times I bathed his feet and gave him his aantibiotics. I will miss him so much even tho he was only with me for 6 months.

So, so terribly sorry, Shirl, I can't believe there was only bumblefoot going on with Oscar, for him to go downhill so quickly. Hugs from me, too. You definitely did all you knew needed to be done for the poor little fellow. I couldn't agree more with your sentiments regarding Oscar's vet I would love to give her a piece of my mind. RIP Oscar. Say hello to Bluey and Fluoro for me.

You did all you could Shirl, please dont beat yourself up - it is so difficult when we lose our feathered buddies and I can fully understand how you must be feeling.
Despite you only having him for a short time, think of what a lovely life he had with you x
