Yes, I did have a Bluey too. And he was as tame and loving as your little man. So sorry your Bluey isn't making the progress you were hoping, but listen to your vet, and take your cues from there. My thoughts are with you both ......... hoping for some positive news to come.

Thank you. Still the same this morning, so I think really we are going to have to say goodbye to him soon We are all so upset. having trouble feeding him. gave him some mashed veggies last night and added extra water to keep his water intake up as I am having trouble getting him to drink too. he did take some. gave him a little more this morning. I pick him up and he just sits in my hand and when i stroke his head he closes his little eyes and looks so peaceful. just wish he was flying round driving us all mad today

So sorry to hear about Bluey's problem, I have recently had to nurse my budgie (Oscar) with something completely different I might add) and I know you are doing all you can. I put a pillow case folded over a pet blanket in the bottom of Oscar's little cage and then lay kitchen roll on the top. You can remove and replace the kitchen roll easily to keep the floor clean and still soft. Good luck both of you, hope Bluey gets better really soon.

Hi Spadger I have done something similar I have an old sweat top over his sanded sheet and then kitchen roll over that so i can change it. Gave him a little more food at lunchtime and managed to syringe a tiny amount of water into his mouth. Have just cooked some fresh veg for tea which is cooling down for him, so will try a little more. he a;lways loved a tiny bit of ginger nut as a treat (I always told hubby off, but it was literally a few crumbs once a month) so I have tried him with that too, and he is only taking a little. he is so sweet. I hold him against my chest and cover him up and he just lies there with his little eyes shut. Only good thing is, he looks peaceful and loved. he has tried to climb onto the piece of flat wood I put in a couple of times but isn't able to. he obviosuy does want to though. he must be so bored because he is used to being out with us all the time which is why i get him out for a cuddle. Thank you all for your continued support. i will keep you updated. I feel sick

Any lamp that gives off some heat will help him ....... unwell birds spend a lot of their energy trying to stay warm so if he is fluffed up at all give him a heat source. A hot water bottle on the bottom of the cage will help too, then the sweatshirt so he doesn't burn his feet. How is he today?

Hi all Firstly I did have a cover over him in the cage and then a cover over the cage too so hopefully he was warm, but last night I felt he was becoming unhappy. I couldn't get any food or drink into him and was having to drop a bit o water into his beak via syringe which upset him and although he'd lie looking peaceful in my arms, every 15 mins or so he'd have like a little fit that'd last about 10 seconds where he'd flutter his wings and shake. Then late on he began to make a little noise while he was doing it. I had him on the bedside cabinet next to me (in his cage obv) and he was doing this all through the night and it was heartbreaking. he seemed weaker this morning too but I'd already made my decision so rang the emergency vet and took him in at 11.10am to have him put to sleep. Couldn't leave him to carry on like that, we loved him too much. We all had a cuddle and he was in my arms at the vets, where we had a nice cuddle and I held him while he had the injection and whilst he nodded off after it. All four of us were with him. All four of us howled the vets down too. We actually then went for a drive to where we found him at our local beach and had a walk with him (I know it sounds daft butit helped us) and then we buried him tonight at 5pm. So hard to let him go. God bless Blu. We all loved you and we will miss you so much xx

Thank you. I think you're right. he had a lovely life, he wasn't confined to his cage and he was one of us. he even came on holiday with us several times a year! I so miss him perched on top of the door watching me, cheeping away as I come in. It;s horrible seeing the empty table where his cage was Can I thank everyone for their very kind thoughts and words xx It's comforting

By the way I realised in my first post I said I found him in 2007. It was actually August 2005 i found him and he was about 7 weeks old then so he was almost 8 years old not 6. Don't know why i put 2007. probably because i was upset!
