This is probably in the wrong section, but didn't know where to put it. A few people were interested in the painting I did of my lizard that I shared in a remembrance post for her. Someone asked if I'd painted a budgie. Well, seeing as I'm trying to get all my pets past and present painted (this is going to take YEARS), here is Thunderwing Doomslayer (or Bluey, if you're my dad) in acrylics on 12"x15" canvas. The tail is short because I fade out the image as it gets to the edge, but I would do that differently next time. I also regret not using my artistic license and altering the awkward looking perch. But hey-ho! Criticism welcomed

That is VERY impressive! Really beautiful.
I keep thinking I must learn how to do a decent-looking budgie outline and try to avoid it looking like a pigeon or something!
What with Sam's drawing and other things, I think we can safely say The Forum's Got Talent!

All of what the others have said and more! That is absolutely beautiful, Vacanteyes! Bluey is a very lucky budgie to already have his portrait painted. As Lousette put it, you have a serious talent. I have a serious dose of envy happening right now. PS I like your dad already - I had a Bluey; he was the best.

Thank you everyone. I'm blown away by the responses, I really am touched. I've always painted and sketched as a hobby, but lately I've taken to painting more regularly, and mainly pictures of animals. I find it very therapeutic. To answer the question about the medium - it is indeed acrylics. I want to give watercolours a go but I love the way you can almost get it 3D with acrylics. I'm contemplating taking a few of my paintings to the next car boot sale I do to perhaps advertise doing this sort of thing for others and all the kind words have encouraged me Thank you

Oh and to Hezz - I think my budgie prefers Bluey, as he's started responding to it now. My dad tells me his childhood budgie was also Bluey ^.^

I think if you have the time and wish to do this sort of thing, definitely advertise and put yourself out there. Your paintings are brilliant - and very professional. I would definitely commission a painting from you if I didn't live on the other side of the world ........... I wonder how postage would work out??? You have got me thinking now .............. PS Thunderwing Doomslayer is probably too much of a mouthful for Bluey to get his tongue around, if he gets to the stage of talking to himself. Bluey is much easier - they don't have a problem with that one.
