Well ive had the last email from the lab about the candida results with has come back positive, they did say when I spoke to them that the email would just say positive or negative and the paper work they send out will say more. so im about to phone the vets to get her an appointment with her vet to start treatment on Monday, ive read there are few different treatments is one better/safer than the others? Ive read on Barry's website no sugar or alcohol so the milk thisel drops will have to stop as it has alcohol in it. I don't think she really needs them anyway it was eagle that had liver problems. have also read vit A helps there immunity so will get some veg that's high in that.

her vet is fully booked Monday, so will call around the other pratices that he works at in the morning when they open. ill try the swanesa one first but can go to the one in haford west if we have to.
felt a bit sad she has had a positive result but al least its not something that cant be cured.
Also anyone have any tips on how to clean perches both wodden and rope ones as I washed them and have dryed them and they smell funny now so haven't put them back. they didn't smell befor I washed them but smell sort of musky now.
oh and also what disinfectant to use, I have trigene here but happy to buy something different if needed.

I am sorry to hear this PP but the positive is that you know what it is and can start the treatment As for disinfectant I would recommend F10, either sc or scxd. I have the second one and its great stuff and lasts ages. I have it mixed up in two spray bottles and use them to clean their perchs, toys, cages etc. I also add the liquid to my mop water. One tiny bottle lasts months and months. I got mine from ebay x

Sorry to hear this PP. I thought it may have been negative since it took so long to come back with a result. I don't know about treatment for birds, but not sure if you are aware that you can get milk thistle drops that are alcohol-free. They are usually advertised as such. As for the perches, for my mind, after a clean the very best thing is a hefty dose of sunshine, if that is at all possible. Sunshine is the killer of maybe not all, but a goodly number, of evils.

The F10SC is super concentrated. That's what the SC stands for. It has all the dilutions written in tiny type on the back of the pack. The dilution rate varies, depending on what you want to use it for. It's something like 1ml per 500ml or 1000mls - different dilutions are suitable for killing different kinds of bacteria or viruses, or for general cleaning.
If you want to really clean something, I wash it first normally with gentle dishwashing liquid, dry with a cloth, then either soak or spray it with the F10 (the time you leave it on for various things is also specified on the back of the pack - generally 15 to 30 minutes I think). I then leave it dry in the sun, without rinsing off the F10.
Forgot to add, if your budgie stuff is smelling musty, it's probably because you haven't dried it well or quickly enough. Smell means it's growing bad things. Drying properly, not just the washing bit, is an important part of bacteria control.

Oh this reminds me of my let-your-toothbrush-dry RANT that I get on to with certain others - especially on trips - damp warm toothbrush put in a box/bag to incubate who knows what - UGHHHH! But I'm a bit OCD...

thank you Rachel, how do you use it on the parches is it just spray, scrub and rinse? ill look that stuff up first thing in the morning. With perches I tend to wet them thoroughly, spray, leave a few minutes then scrub and rinse off. I sometimes also put them in a bucket once I've cleaned off the majority of the poop and leave them to soak

Thanks every one, she is booked in for next friday, he is fully booked everywhere except Friday in the thurthest one, but she still seems ok in her self most of the time, lost a gram this week but she is refusing a bath and she smells a bit birdy so will have to tempt her in tonight.
Found a site that does the smaller one 100l for 8,99, is that a good price.
It sounds like my farm grade stuff but safer. I got if when my dog got parvo (her vacs failed) but last time I used it to clean my mouse boxes I suddenly had tumors popping up with in a month or so of using it, lost practly half my stud so won't use it anymore. So will order this F10SC stuff.

I make my F10SC up in a 500 ml spray bottle, so it's always on hand. For little clean-ups and just small daily cleaning, it's really easy. Just wipe off any poop on perches or other messes with a wet paper towel or tissues, then quickly do it over again with the F10 spray. Same with his play gym areas and anywhere he visits or hangs around in regularly in the house.
For his weekly eucalyptus branches and leaves, I wash them under water or give them a super blast with the hose, then spray them thoroughly with F10 solution and leave them for an hour or more. The trees are filled with all sorts of birds, bats, possums and other wildlife, so there's always potential for weird bugs on them.

woops ment 100ml for 9.99, no not including p&p. lol
her perches she uses most are wrapped in bandge (due to her foot getting sore) so I can put the bandges threw the washing machine as well.
Going to get her new bowls too as she keeps sitting on them reasontly and has been pooping in them! that was eagle that use to do that. Its also no good for her foot to be sat on the hard bowl all day. she was sleeping on it yesterday afternoon.
she smells a bit better after a little spray yesterday.
