Mmm, I would hedge my bets and say male - reason is that it looks like a lilac cere to me. Very beautiful tho! Hopefully someone with more experience will confirm for you soon

In those pics, Chief also looks male to me. It's that bright lilac cere colour that is coming through in the photos. Pics can be deceiving though.

Sorry, but the photos aren't sharp enough for me to make a call. Chief is a lovely bird though.

Again would hazard an educated guess at a violet? And again hope someone can confirm that!

Chief looks like a male and colour would be 'normal violet'

Cheers for the help, tried getting a bond with chief today and went badly, biting me A LOT. I probably rushed a bit so I'm leaving him for a few more days before attempting again. Hopefully we will get that bond with some more training time

Softly softly as they say Rome wasn't built in a day. Chief will get used to you and sometimes there maybe a little biting but make sure you show him that he must not win when he bites otherwise he will do it all the time!

Dont make any noise like "ow" and keep your finger near his beak and dont back down. Telling him "No" firmly will help and as long as he realises no matter how much he bites you, you wont back down he will eventually stop trying
