Right!!!! my chicks are just over 4wks old . Sunny the oldest is out of the box all the time and will pop back in the nest himself if he feels like it , what I want to know is- 1) ..at what age do I take the chicks out of the breeding cage and put them in the nursery cage ? and do I put dad in with them and what do I do with mum ? 2)... I have 3 chicks in the aviary (colony bred) with a different hen so will I be able to put them chicks in the nursery cage with the others once they are ready ? 3)...Will mum and dad who are in the breeding cage be able to return to the aviary with the other birds at some point.? 4 ) Sunny the oldest chick is very tame and is looking to come out all the time and will jump on my finger and wont go back on the perch, he just wants to be on my finger or on my arm and when cleaning the cage out sits on my shoulder, hubby says he should go for a pet for someone and not go in the aviary when he`s older with the other birds ,.... what do you think ? I dont want to part with him he is lovely but will it spoil him going in with the other birds when he`s a bit older as none are tame and will and fly away from me usually out the flight the minute I walk into feed or clean them . think it frightned them when I had to use a net to catch the cock and hen to put in the cage a few months ago so now they dont like me

I also want to take down the nestboxes from the aviary once the chicks are out. ! As I dont want to colony breed anymore in there,.. but I think one of the other hens will be going to lay shortly.

1 , 42 days they should be feeding themselves so no need for the cock to go with them.
2 , yes.
3 , yes remove the breeding box and give them a rest for 2 weeks then put them in.
4 , if put in the aviary he will become like the rest.
5 , just take them out the hen will lay one maybe two off the perch than stop.
