It's difficult to see clearly. Possibly a hen but a closer fuller face picture would be good. How old is it?

A little bit of blue or pink in the cere doesn't always mean that a budgie is male.

A little bit of blue or pink in the cere doesn't always mean that a budgie is male. I realise that BB but the depth of colour in the plumage is how I judge it. Right or wrong, I feel that the darker the plumage the more colour there will be in the cere. So a light bird with a clearly blue cere is more likely to be a cock bird. Your bird has darker plumage with a pale blue cere so is more likely a hen.

I don't guess colors.
I decide from what I can see in the pictures provided.

I don't guess colors. I decide from what I can see in the pictures provided. There is no guess work involved in the way I determine what sex I think they are either. It's down to colour and what I can see in the picture too. If a dark bird has a light colour cere then it's most likely a hen. Just like with humans, if someone has light skin they will almost always have light hair and blue eyes. The pigment is much less. Lutino birds are more difficult to determine the sex of as they are very light in colour.
