So is it possible that some types just don't have these seed pods as I haven't seen in ours.

They appear after flowering, not during it, and I don't get them every year. So maybe the plant has to be extra-happy for it to decide to go this far ........ a bit like having healthy budgies for breeding , I assume the desert rose feels a bit the same. If it isn't feeling it's healthiest, maybe it doesn't waste it's time trying to reproduce? But, yes, it is possible that yours could be sterile, BB ........ I thought ours were inclined to be too, as I remember looking into this a few years ago, but my on-line research lately is telling me a different story. I should just talk to my local nursery ......... they know everything there is to know.

OK, I talked to him. This is how we buy it. There are all imported, and sterile.
