I got the news this morning that Carlos passed away during the night. He was found on the aviary floor this morning. He was the second bird I got, around March/April 2008. He was honestly the most sweet-natured bird I've ever met, he didn't have a nasty bone in his body. Not very fond of me, haha, he was too shy for that, but he would step up begrudgingly and then rush back to Whiskers even his bite was sweet-natured - it was more like being stroked than bitten - wish I could say the same for my other budgies!! I had an understanding with Carlos, we would make budgie noises and wink at each other and that was enough for him - no hands needed he was very suspicious, as budgies are, and I don't think I ever saw him in the bath. Vegetables, though, he was front of the queue his favourites were lettuce, spinach and (most of all) cress - he would even come right up close to my face to take pieces from my mouth! Those are some of my favourite memories He was utterly devoted to Whiskers (even though she bullied him relentlessly) and he's looked so sad and lonely since she died last year. They had a bond that was unbreakable, and it's comforting to think that they can have it again. Fly high Carlos, beautiful green bird, I won't forget you xxx Just after I got him, with Whiskers. Kisses for his special lady, May 2012. With Django, 2013. My beautiful boy, 2013.

Carlos certainly grew into a big, hunky handsome boy. So sorry for your loss. Whiskers was probably waiting for him over at rainbow bridge.

Rest in Peace, sweet handsome Carlos. Keep his cute face and happy song close to your heart, and he will be with you forever. He and Whiskers are together again, talking about the good times they had with you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your kind words, all of you, they mean a lot. I've said it before, but it feels so strange to think he's gone because I'm not there. It doesn't feel real yet, but I expect it will when I go home for Christmas and he's not there. It'll be sad walking up to the aviary and not seeing a flash of bright green, but at least he is with Whiskers again. I'm so grateful that I took the time to get photos of them both, and of all the other birds I've kept, I have so many that it feels like they are never truly that far away. I have lots of special memories of all of them

It's nice that you can think about all the birds you have loved and cared for and smile. That's a special feeling. Hugs to you, Starzie.

I know that feeling, starzie. Getting the news when you are removed from the situation leaves an odd feeling of grief but in a weird way .....
