You want to use one of the low VOC paints, BB. They may be called different things in different countries, or between various brands. VOC stands for volatile organic compounds. They are the chemicals that make the paint smell. The low VOC paints give off very few fumes. More and more people are using them to paint the interior of their homes. Instead of the smell hanging around for ages, it's safe to reinhabit the rooms almost straight away. Thanks Stace I found it here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volatile_organic_compoundI am planning to paint my nest boxes. But I don't think we will have such paints here. Let me find out.

Todays household paints have no nasties in them now BB, i use eggshell white or magnolia for my birdroom, easy to wash and very little smell. A dish of water placed on the floor of the room to be painted will help remove any potential smells
