It's my turn now...... I need all the positive energy everyone can send my way. My beautiful Bluey is starting to succumb to his health issues, having just spent the last two days at the vet's having everything from poop analysis to anaesthetics to x-rays and blood tests to try to discover just what is causing his distended abdo, which has recently started to impair his breathing, and left him listless and tired the last day or two. Unfortunately the x-ray was inconclusive, regarding whether the mass was fluid, fatty or malignant. But his liver and kidney are enlarged, not helping the crowding in his little body, and the long-term outcome is not good. Hopefully we will know more when we get the results back on his blood tests, they were only taken today, and will need to be sent away. But the general prognosis is that we have him for a short time, not a long time. I am bringing him home this afternoon, as long as he has recovered from the anaesthetic, the dose of AB's and the crop-swab, and is still eating seed as per today, as yesterday he only nibbled on millet. Blue deserves some divine intervention here, or the closest thing to it - he is truely a wonderful little being.

Oh, I'm so sorry Hezz. That's awful news for you.
He's your first, too, isn't he?
Be healthy, Bluey, and fight.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts. Blue came home yesterday, quite chirpy and had been into his seed. Sparky and Smudge went mad when they heard him chirp from the other side of the house. He is on baytril as a precaution for the time being, at least a week. Until we get blood results back (hopefully tomorrow) we won't know what the next move is. I see him turning in a hippie-budgie, existing on wheatgrass and milk-thistle, I really hope with some holistic help we can decrease the liver enlargement, the liver being one of the few organs that can heal itself. He had some time out this morning and kept flying around - a good thing I suppose, but I did want him to take it easy for a bit. Put him in the big cage with the other two for 5 minutes and Sparky immediately wanted to feed him and even tried to climb on his back! He has only tried that once before that I am aware of - gave him short-shift! He straight off started into the seed pot, while trying to chatter away. So some seeded grass in the little cage with him, and millet, plus normal seed and when the baytril is finished some probiotics and hippy-grass I cried buckets yesterday and Tuesday, and the boys are taking it pretty hard too. He really is one of the family. Unfortunately there is going to be no cure, or recovery: we may have him for a week or two, if really lucky maybe 12 months (I doubt) so will enjoy every scrap of time we can. Yes, he is as the Smith's potato crisps slogan, "the original and the best". Our first foray into the budgie world. Keep the positive energy flowing people - cancers have disappeared when doctors have given up all hope. Will provide up-dates as they happen.
