This must be the food changes in the last two days or so. Hopefully he will be fine soon. As a general rule, any budgie brought to a new place should be provided almost the same diet he was being offered in the previous place until he settles in nicely. This is a question that beginners or those buying in new baby birds often don't think to ask for ...... what is the chick currently eating and can I have some?? A good breeder will send home a chick with a "goodie bag" of the seed mix the bird is currently used to.

That's right Hezz. All beginners think about the cage, perches, toys, etc., and that's because they love the new bird. But this is the most important thing which most people forget about.

BudgiesBuddy & Hezz, the thing is I did not forget about it. I asked PetCo where I bought Bebe. I asked them what he ate there before. But instead of telling me what they gave him, they showed me all kind of seed mixes etc. that I can use... To the question what they did feet him, they never really answered... It wasn't about you, it's a general comment. (From the thread heading, many more will come to read this in future). I know you got him from a pet shop, and how misinformative they can be. Also they have got the budgies from breeders and diet change has already occurred in the pet shop. Anyhow, just a look in their food bowls can give some idea about what they are eating at that moment, which could be since a week or more.

Couldn't have put it better, BB. Tanja, I asked too, when I got my little girl, Mango .....but the breeder forgot to bring the little bag with her that she had dished out for me. Mango totally rejected the eggfood mix I offered, luckily it wasn't a big issue as the formula was simply as a top-up feed at that stage. Some things are beyond our control ....... I wasn't going to make a two hour drive to pick this up ...... I would have, had it been crucial.

tanja, how is BeBe feeling today? He is feeling much better, munching his seeds and chirping & chatting up a storm. He actually begins now to literally swing his toys around out of excitement On the other hand he does not come out of the cage now xD When I try to get him out he always jumps off like 20x in a row. So the one day of begging and coming to the edge of the wooden board was actually just that, begging for seeds, because he was really hungry! So as soon he got his seeds back he did not feel the need anymore to come out. Funny little buggers. His poop is also back to normal again! And I don't know if it's just imagination, but I feel he has a much prouder stance now. He is sitting upright and his chest looks like it's bumped out to impress someone???

Couldn't agree more. Isn't it just a funny thing? I think you could say that he has made his preference known.
