Stace and Ira.
Both the parent birds showed no signs of this, although it would seem, if a virus, one must have been a carrier.
Jo was fine until he was about 2, this was around the time that they would have been put into the aviary. If stress is a factor this maybe what triggered it.

skysmum I know this is an ancient thread and I am sorry for resurrecting it! I'm trying to find out info on how and if I can help Lyra grow some of her feathers back (as you know, she has FM) Did you complete this regime for Jo? Did it help him at all.

I did Marianne but it didn't help JoJo sadly. Jo never lost any body feathers it was only ever his primary flights that were affected, i think there are varying degrees of it. It would be worth a try with little Lyra though, nothing ventured nothing gained

Marianne Marlow I asked my budgies' nutritionist if there was anything that could help FM. She has a budgie with FM that she's trying to help with better nutrition. She said she's noticed his feathers are healthier since she's made sure he's getting foods high in vitamins and protein from bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs. Maybe you could try Lyra on Guardian Angel - is that full of vitamins?

Thanks TPM I have been giving vits and egg food. I just ordered some "feather up" and will be starting her on that on Monday and have some mung beans to sprout too if I can get her to eat them! Okay, thanks for the update. It's a shame that nothing helped Jo. I did Marianne but it didn't help JoJo sadly. I think with your love and attention plus the good diet that you've been/will be giving her, she'll surely improve. Poor little girl, if only she could get some down type feathers on her chest.

Look how well Penny has come on. I’m sure Lyra will do better with you looking after her
