They certainly are not too young to be let out, and budgies really do need the exercise. I suggest on working very hard on hand taming them, and stick taming, so that they are allowed out for at least a short time every day. Which means you may have to convince your parents they are good to come out, and that they need the exercise. There is not much point in having them sit in a cage all their lives. If you can train them to step up and go home, show how little trouble they are, maybe your parents will have a change of heart.

Could you let them out in your bedroom? No There're many gaps in our house for the birds to escape so, no way.

We are not having a go but to be honest maybe you should not have got birds if they are not allowed out of their cage as they need to fly and it will be very sad and stressful for them to stay in a cage for maybe 12 years (yes they can live to 12 even older) its just they really do need a daily fly for exercise and mental health...Sorry to keep bringing the point up but is there not just one room where the door can be shut, windows closed where they will not be able to break free?

Sadly, in our place no one lets pet birds out of the cage. It is just the same if I get the bird or someone would have bought it and even they won't let them out.

No, we are not meaning to be mean but if you can't let the birds out to fly in your house then maybe a different animal that can't fly would have been better. Is there a way you could make a large flight cage for them? One where you could go in with them and enjoy time together and get to know your birds?

I think the one on the left might be male, but hard to see and the one on the right, female
will your parents allow you to let them out soon? Is the cage going to be big enough for flying? It needs to be much wider than height if that is the case
Could they come out when in your room say, to fly about?

barbiekelly, where abouts do you live? It is really hard to give helpful advice when we may be presuming you live in the UK, but you are actually somewhere else in the world. I understand your problem, if you are from somewhere where birds as pets are considered fine living in a cage all their lives. Changing a community's ideas and ways of thinking usually happens very slowly, over generations, and here we are telling you that this is wrong. It puts you in a difficult position.

I live in India, Tamil Nadu. Hi Barbiekelly, I am sure right side bird is female, left side bird is may be male, cere looks blueish.
Regarding birds flight i dont think there is problem in tamil nadu(India). Me too from Tamil Nadu, Madurai. i am having 4 cuties in my room and i used to let them out of cage daily for 20 mins in morning, even though they are not tammed. It is a healthy exercise for birds and make them feel really happy. my Ezio will wake me up by 6:00 am and start shouting by telling me to open the cage. I cannot accept that you telling people in our state will not open the cage and let birds fly inside room. May be it will happen if YOU are too young and your parents might thought that you cannot take care of the birds. Explain to your father about this and tell him to be with you while openning cage so your parents will accept. Regards, Arthus

Regards, Arthus I don't want to tell where I live in Tamil Nadu, in that place, people don't let birds out and treat them like show case birds. Except that I can provide my birds ANYTHING. I think I'm better than them. Thank you for the gender, Arthus.

I live in India, Tamil Nadu. I thought you may have been in India. You don't need to say any more. And I am sure you will provide for your birds to the best of your ability. Good luck with them; I hope you have some luck in getting them some out of cage time.
