They all sound perfectly adorable, BB. I do so love the "the girls are sweet ....... nothing like Dilly" comment!! You have to wonder if this has anything to do with having company as opposed to being alone. The old nature/nurture debate. That "fat boy" will grow up to be one very beautiful, proud, strutting cock, for sure. He has the posture already!

This reminds me of your unhappiness about some of my comments about Dilly when you thought I was being cheeky. You know now that I don't hold anything against females. It was just Dilly The mystery of the fat boy is solved now

The chicks are fed every four hours and covered for next four hours. So I don't know whats happening in the brooder other than a peek or two in-between feeding. The chicks are sleeping most of the time. For the last few days, my fat boy chick number 3, had me somewhat puzzled. He crop is always full. Normally, a bloated crop in chicks is a bad sign. It can be associated with problems like "Sour Crop", a condition caused by the crop not fully emptying. But he was gaining weight, and in fact more than others. The mystery was solved when he was caught red-handed He can be seen begging for food from the elder sisters, and in this case getting lucky from one. I saw the other one feeding him too.

Come feeding time, and everyone is begging for food in competition and trying to out-loud each other, he is fast asleep with full crop

I just bet you have no problems with them feeding their offspring. You have to wonder, with Dilly, whether a chick with a different personality, a less fiesty personality, would have survived, and thrived, the way she has. Even if she did make your job hard at times. And you can be cheeky all you like; without you she wouldn't be.
