The cage is small for two birds even without breeding, even with the nest box out of it. Limited space can be the issue behind the fight. Budgies don't need a box to sleep. It's for Lovebirds only.

This is how we attach the nest box to avoid limiting the space.

Remove the nest box. Hope she recovers soon.

The pet shop owner said that the cage was "more than enough" for two budgies. I bet he would be happy to sell me a bigger cage, if only he knew better. Anyway, a new more spacious home will be provided for them tommorow.
As for the nest, she really enjoys sleeping there for some reason, even if she doesnt need to. So, if its not bad for their wellbeeing, I will put it again in their new home.
The eye is going a lot better. The red rings have gone and it doesnt look swollen any more. She will be able to wink suggestively again, in no time!

Leaving the nest box in is only going to cause you more troubles. By doing this you are promoting and encouraging them into breeding. Take the box away and she will happily sleep on a perch.
Unfortunately pet shop owners are often not the most informed people, particularly when it come to birds.

Good news about the eye. She is in good hands. I am sorry about the chick. So sad.

Thank you guys! A new cage has been purchased and the nest box will get adjusted there, only after she fully recovers. Its time to do some reading, so I will be better prepared next time. So, I bid you fair well, until the next time. Hopefully it will be just bragging about my new chicklets, and not some panicked plea for help. Be well, you all have my gratitude.
