hiii I have a male and a female budgie. their ceres r turing (not fully yet) brown and purple. the thing is, when the male comes to mate with her she won't let him and starts making this noice as if screaming on him. after he goes away she follows him and starts kissing, try to be fed and making that move with her head for him. So am lost, is she just teasing him? they have a box to lay eggs in and she does go in it, and food is always available. any thoughts?! Sent from my GT-I9200 using Tapatalk

They are probably too young to mate. How old are they? From your avatar picture that one looks very young. Has the hens cere gone crusty? If not she isn't in breeding condition.

Can't really tell from that picture if she is too young but I can see she isn't in breeding condition so she wont let him mate. When she comes into condition she will be ready for him. Let them have some time. Do you know how old they are?

Awww they do look too young nour90. They should be at least a year old especially the female otherwise you could have all sorts of problems including the female getting egg bound which can be fatal.

If you remove the nest box they may settle down a bit.

It's a young hen, which is not in breeding condition as well.

Take the nest box out until you have had them for 12 months; then you know they are old enough. If you don't want to breed, don't put it back in. The cock will get over it. It is the hen you must take care of - she is the one who is going to have to wear the consequences if you allow them to mate.
