I thought about it a few times but can't decide. It just maybe the angle of the picture. It's a real puzzle this little bird.

Thank you thank you thank you so much for all your input!!! I will take a video soon of his behaviour (male yes ?) and upload it. My observations so far..... - does seem to scratch the area around his neck a little where the feathers are bare. When he does he struggles to balance. - Not able to fly to his perch in his cage. uses the ladder and still struggles for the last part. - Friendly enough. Will sit on my finger when I place it in front of him and shoulder. Had him out of his cage this afternoon and originally didn't want to go back in and flew away but soon waddled back over and willingly went back in very soon after to get to his food (seed. - I tried to give his hand feeding mixture I bought from the pet store this afternoon. However there were no instructions with it so had to guess consistency. used hot water but made sure it was not to hot when offering it to him. He was not interested so would love some advice on how to prepare and offer this to him properly. - saw him stick his beak in (or very close to) the water this afternoon. Not sure if he had a drink or not. HOPE SO! Hope this gives a better picture about this little fellow! Thanks again for advice!

What hand feeding mix did you get? Where do you live as it could help us to know what the bird care is like in your part of the world.

I got the feed from my local pet store in a small 'take away' container and they told me to mix it with warm water. They have written in texta 'handed feeding formula', No specific brand or bird on the label. I'm in Australia.
Budgie is out of his cage now. Flying ok but seems to fly into walls. I'm guessing he is still learning. Should I worry about him flying into things? He is not in a panic. Still wont eat the formula I tried making t thinner.

Try feeding him hard boiled egg, mashed up, you can leave some shell in there too as it's good for calcium. Remove the membrane on the shell and crush the shell very well.

Most baby budgies are right klutzes when it comes to flying about, initially. They seem to have no idea how to turn, only how to flap, so they end up going up, up, up, and along, until they come to a wall or corner and then go fluttering down, down, down, until they are on the floor! Also for this baby reasoning, I wouldn't be too concerned about him losing his balance easily either. He is just like a human baby learning to walk.
