So far I have moved all the birds out and painted the birdroom with 2 coats of organic VOC free paint and now all birds are back in their old aviary again. Now we've got to wait 3 weeks for my holiday to start when Kollyn will be round with some wood and power tools to build the base which will have 2 foot deep of storage underneath, a thick melomine floor. Next will be the wooden brackets fitted around the walls at the front of the aviary. It is wall to wall 10 ft long and just short of 4 ft wide. Then 3 uprights inbetween with horizontal supports half way up them. Then just wire it all up. Oh and not forgetting the door! I'm feeling impatient now

No pics to post as yet Barrie but I'm sure there will be when it all kicks off and you'll be getting plenty of pics! Just a big white room all looking clean and fresh. It was surprising how well the paint covered the raspberry stains from the celestials;) Thanks Brian I'm hoping the extra size of the aviary will help my fatties lose some weight LOL! If not I'll have to start chasing them down the street!

eggshell guys you mean the finish as in matt ,gloss and eggshell (semi gloss ) some paint manufacturers do a mid sheen finish which is same as an eggshell finish what they use in kitchens and bathrooms its cool as its acrylic so not much smell with it

Hey Brian, there was no smell by using this organic paint. Its brilliant:) Expensive but I got it half price from their bargain list:) I was worried as I have little space to keep the budgies in when I was painting the room so I wanted to move them back in straight away. I even left the breeding pair and chicks in the room while painting as I didn't want to disturb them, but only painted a small area at a time, but to be honest with this paint you could paint around your bed and sleep in it a couple of hours later and never know the job was done:)

I'd have prefered wider as like you say you can see the birds better. However I might reuse some of the stainless steel weld from the old aviary on 2 of the front panels. www.meshdirect.co.uk/Stainless-Steel-Mesh-c-111.html
