That is brilliant, Joey and OP! So great to hear the story of Joey's first encounter!

What a great story, clever boy. The swing looks like it's made out of dolly mixtures!

Good for you, Joey. Glad you didn't let the silly swing get the better of you in the end. I can only imagine what a swing would be like to a budgie who has not had/tried one before. He was not going to be made a figure of fun again.

What a success! A great story OP, Joey has mastered the swing very quickly. No flies on him, clever boy

Joey thanks everybody for their complimentary comments. He really has mastered that pesky swing and uses it to get around the cage all the time now. I suppose it does look like dolly mixtures JennyB

Aw poor Joey my budgies get their cages changed around from time to time, they usually flap into the corner farthest away from my hand and when I've finished my re-arranging, sit their eyeing up the new set-up and probably thinking to themselves, why doesn't that woman leave us be!

I'm thinking of getting that swing for Munchy sometime, to replace his plastic one It's not overly urgent at the moment as he only ever sleeps on it and after all these years it hasn't caused him any foot problems. It will have to be a christmas present, though, as I just ordered him new perches from there and a big 4-tier swing for outside of the cage. Good to see Joey isn't terrified of it, OP He seems to have taken to it quickly considering the things you've always said about him being slow to warm up to things, OP

Joey is turning into a different budgie theses days. He still has his ways, but is sort of trusting me more. He has got well used to the swing now but doesn't sit on it as a swing. He uses it to get from one place to another. Sometimes he will jump over a closer perch to get on the swing which the propels him to where he wants to go. Quite a trapeze artist he is.

Our new swing has arrived, well the budgies that is and true to form they have kept as far away as possible from it so far, eyeing it up very suspiciously, I hope they sleep all right tonight! Can't wait to see who braves it first, I shall guess Mischief and let you know I got one from Natural Bird Products like others here, because Sid has broken a few plastic ones! Sometimes he thinks he's Tarzan
