The last couple of days I've been having loud talking ads playing at random moments. I thought I was having some sort of pop-up ad issue but have just tracked it down to the forum. They suddenly blast out and it is very annoying.
Anyone else getting this? Can I stop it?

Proboards must not be getting enough signing up by the normal method, so they are trying to get people to sign up to get rid of the annoying ads. Ghostery ad blocker is free and it works very well. It works on Firefox and Opera, but I don't know about any others.

A quick look suggests that ads that use auto play are not supposed to be used on Proboards.
I think one of the ads that was running on auto play for me was Australian Unity. If that's reported to Proboards, they'll do something about it, I believe.
Not sure what the other ad was playing yesterday, or if it was in fact the same one.

Hey Marianne Marlow. Could you ask Proboards support if they can fix/ban whoever is placing the auto play ads? It's the ad down on the bottom Right of the forum. I've had an Australian Unity (insurance I think) and a Borderlands Game ad - those are the two I can remember, but it will be some company who is placing them.

stace did you do what proboards suggested and report the ad? This is their response: "Hi mariannemarlow, If the member receives the ad again, have them take a screenshot of the ad, and then use CTRL + ALT + R on their keyboard. This should replace the ads with an ad-report tool where they can paste a link to their screenshot along with a description of the issue, and our ad team will be able to remove it from there "

Marianne Marlow, I'm on a mac. I don't have that ALT + R command. Let's see if I can find the Mac version. Postscript. Found it.. don't panic mr Mannering.

Well, that's reported to Proboards. Hope they can boot the supplier off. Oh, there's another one playing. 1 minute after the last one. For fat belly workouts.

I am getting about 3-5 in a row, barely minutes apart, as well. Will have to wait for resident "techspert" to come home to try M's suggestion.

They are sometimes playing for one minute, then one minute's break, then it fires up again. Really annoying. Hopefully PBoards will fix. You can get extensions to your browser that will stop it, but I figure they are not supposed to be playing on the forum, so better to stop it at source. I'm not having issues anywhere else but here. If someone commits a crime, I'd rather call the cops than feel I have to call in private security.

Thank you ladies for reporting these ads! I'm sorry you're getting them, they sound like a pain.
