Her droppings are a very good indicator of her health, as you know, and I think you are correct in that she is drinking more and therefore passing more fluid. The head pumping and yawning is normal behaviour, and in her case maybe there is a residual irritation that is causing her to try to settle her crop more comfortably. Hopefully that is the end of her problems.

Yes, thanks! Her droppings are still a little greenish, but she hasn't vomited and isn't as thirsty anymore.

I hope that's a sign she's on the road to recovery.

Before I was on this forum, Topaz was sick and had the same symptoms as what your budgie has. She was better within a week. I gave her 2-3 drops of ACV with 'mother' in her water and changed the water 2-4 times a day so that she wouldn't drink water 'infected' with her sickness, and so Indigo wouldn't catch the sickness. I made sure there was no thrown up seeds for either of them to eat. At night, I put a blanket on the cage early, and let them sleep in. I made sure she got a bit extra vegetables. I definitely fussed over her, but it was worth it! Everyone on a different forum just told me to take her to the vet..
(I never took her to the vet, because I don't trust vets around small birds. The avian vets around here aren't good)

Luckily, Pixie seems to have recovered from that. I am so happy! The problem now is very confusing to me. Since the last two days, whenever I reach in the cage to change food, give her a head rub, or try to perch her on my finger she bites me! She has never done this before, I am very confused and worried. I don't know what to do! She used to be hand tame... Could it be hormonal because she is maturing? She is less than a year old. Anyone have an idea what this might be?

Hi, I've heard no more than a couple of times a week. They should have a lot of fresh water, with very small amounts of apple cider vinegar water as a supplement.

Hello Hezz! Do you by any chance understand what is going on? Let me quote a previous post I made...

Ooooo, not sure, puffugu. It could be her hormones, particularly if her cere is changing colour ( ), it could be that she is still feeling a bit low, but not as low as she was - as in a go away, leave me alone kind of thing - or it could be a bit of both in that she has been sick, still not up to full strength and then her hormones are (possibly) all over the place and making things very confusing for her, particularly if this is her first time. I am going to suggest that you treat her exactly the same, maybe a little more attention if possible, but you will probably never know which is causing the angst at this stage. I think she will revert back to the bird you are used to, but in case this doesn't happen, don't change your expectations of her; she may have her reasons for behaving badly, but this is no excuse. Let her know gently but firmly that the biting is not acceptable.

Okay, thank you! Should I just not react immediately when she bites and just slowly back away and try again a while later?

If possible don't react at all. Easy to say, much harder to do. If you are trying to get her onto your finger and she bites, give her a gentle bop on the beak and say no!, and try again, making her step up. Don't stop doing what it was you were trying to do in the first place, as then she will be thinking that she has won. Unfortunately some budgies do get a real hand phobia if they have been sick and needed treatment or have needed to be caught rather dramatically. But this sounds more like her hormones kicking in and she is being a teenage girl and pushing all the boundaries she can.

Hezz Luckily she is not biting anymore, but yet another problem has risen. She hasn't been vomiting but has been cracking open seeds but not actually eating the insides, too, as she spits out the insides with the husks. I don't understand, could this be related to the vomiting? She's being this picky with millet which confuses me.
