Tell me about it stace! Think it will drop off very soon looking at the state of it I don't think he will chew it off OP, it is just that little bit out of reach for him to have a nibble at (thankfully) Besides, it is quite big and doubt if he would be able to manage it anyway!

Well dare I say this is looking good. Checked Alfie today to make sure the tie was still attached (in other words he hadn't chewed it off) and to see if there had been any change. This is what I saw: Looking good huh?! Upon researching feather cysts this is what they look like round the edges once the have been expressed and cauterised AND I can see his preen gland is separate from it. samwiseg, I'm seeing a strange picture here in your link.

It should be a "what a relief" smiley?

It should be a "what a relief" smiley? It is now, Sam; before it was some weird slinky woman ........ with a cat, I think? Can't really remember, now.

A kind of Japanese manga-style animated slinky woman, pulling at the shoulder of her negligee. HOwever, it's now showing as the smiley.

Found this at the bottom of the cage this morning..... And what's more it is only half of it! There is still some attached as the thread is still there also so have put some propolis on the attached bit. I couldn't get a picture as I had to act quickly once I caught him and didn't want to stress him out. Am thinking it is drying and falling off in sections? So only one more bit to go (hopefully)

Good news. That is quite the process though. How is Alfie doing?

Fingers crossed there is only one more bit. Still progress is being made. Quite a lot of stress for both you and Alfie no doubt.
