budgiefriend he is doing ok - poor little lad tho, I have felt sorry for him as he is also going through a moult which doesn't help his spirits but have given him his egg and sweetcorn plus extra rations of millet but I think it has been itching him a bit today so hopefully means that it is healing! It is very stressful OP poor little guy! But as for me I suppose its all in the job of keeping budgies eh? Well as far as it growing back skysmum I am not sure - partly because I know there is a damaged follicle with a feather cyst so weather this would have been destroyed in this process I am not sure - all I can do atm is make sure that he gets all his nutrients and keep him free from infection which propolis does extremely well. Thanks stace it is rather bleh isn't it?! LOL!

Yes I think Samwiseg should receive HonAssocRCVS for her veterinary skills.

Right I have an update: I dont think Alfie was doing too well however it maybe cause of the cyst or might have been because he has had a particularly bad moult and has been feeling below par. He has been eating and drinking normally but has been consuming vast amounts of cuttle (hence the bad moult) so erring on the side of caution I took him to the vet. I explained what has happened and she gave me a solution that I could give him that would be a pain reliever if he were in discomfort and an anti-inflammatory for his lump. She said the lump would indeed fall off in the end. So this it what has happened, it has actually shrunk: and upon examination this morning..it came off! The wound looks clean, only a day of meds and hopefully we are there

That is good news that the cyst has now fallen off. I would have expected there to be only a very small wound. As you say, watch this space. Very well done though. Glad to know Alfie is on the mend.

I bet that's a relief to Alfie to be rid of that. I hope it heals over and the little guy gets no more problems from it.

It is a very small wound, hardly worth a mention but still it is clean and not inflamed which was my main concern. Plus the vet said no need for AB's! But I must also apologise, I should have also mentioned that Alfie is in fact more or less back to his normal self - he is flying and behaving like the usual mischievous bud he always has been. There has been one change tho....he lets Barney eat?! So much so they now share a feeder together!!!! Has Alfie grown some humility? Bless my brave little blue bean
