Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here with a new budgie I've had Tweety for about 4 months now, and she first regurgitated on my hand about 3 days ago. I know it wasn't vomiting because there was no violent head shaking; just some head bobbing and she just "placed" the contents on my thumb. The first time she did that it was clear liquid (a small amount..maybe about just enough to cover a baby's fingernail? lol) and 1 seed that was not digested. Today she regurgitated 2 times on my hand, but this time it was clear liquid with no seeds at all. So my question is, what are the contents of regurgitation actually supposed to look like? Is it normal for there to be NO seeds and just liquid?

No, this is not normal, from my experience. All the regurgitation I have seen has been chock-full of seed with the liquid holding it all together. Are you sure Tweety is a girl? Usually it is the males who regurgitate, first to show the hens how good a provider they are, they can actually feed the hen while she is in the nest box, and later they help out feeding the chicks.
Maybe Tweety is still learning how to go about the whole process.

Thank you for your input, Hezz! From the research I've done, I'm pretty sure she is a girl. She's still pretty young though. She's going through her baby molt at the moment and still has the forehead bands. Her cere is mostly white with a splash of blue starting from the middle going down, still white at the top. From what I got from reading online is that if the liquid is thick or has an unpleasant sour odor then it would be bad, but it didn't seem to smell like anything to me.

Stick a photo up in the Gender section and we can all have a guess. Just make sure she is eating heaps, as I would hate to think that she isn't bringing up seed because there is not seed to bring up! Also, start her on veggies if you haven't already. Hopefully it is simply that she is still getting the hang of the regurg process. I always think that if you can smell a budgie, or any part of them, something is wrong.
