Yep Murph has got a bl**dy feather cyst!!!!! Well did have as I lanced and expressed it today. I will spare you what it looked like but it was exactly the same as Alfies except Murph's was actually ON his preen gland. So I couldn't tie this one off it had to be lanced. It was gross but i managed to get rid of all the gunk and stuff from inside and put propolis on it. The outer part of the cyst should dry out, go crisp and fall off. Have administered pain killer and anti inflammatory. Wish us luck

Oh poor Murph! And poor you having to turn into a surgeon! Hopefully Alfie will be able to reassure him by saying "been there, done that". With luck he won't show him the scars. Get better soon Murph.

Good boy, Murph. Of course he has forgiven his mom. She makes him feel better.

Oh lordy! Maybe it's like teenage budgie acne. Good on you, Sam, for dealing with it so ably and so well.

So sorry to hear that samwiseg. You are so clever at dealing with this sort of thing. How is Murph today?

He is fine today - accepting food clambering and flying about as normal! He is a lot more relaxed today as I have no doubt he was a tad rattled after yesterday's performance. He didn't utter a sound, not even a protest squeak whilst it was going on What I cant get over is what are the chances? I still cant believe he had one more or less the same time as Alfie? And putting on my science head a lot of these things people say are a lack of vitamin A which is completely IMPOSSIBLE in this household?! Upon reading up about feather cysts it does seem that no one can really answer why budgies get them budgiefriend - I would like to think so! stace, it so does seem like that! Mind you I have had these birds a while now so I suppose the law of averages means that I am going to get a bit of trouble at some point Shirls don't know about clever! I was just in the position of where it had to be done and try and give him the least amount of stress as possible. Thanks to all of you for your kind words
